Dental Cleanings
Brushing, flossing and using mouth rinse at home is often not enough to remove the plaque and build up from your teeth.
At your first visit to Bathurst Finch Dental Office, a detailed dental exam will be done by both the dental hygienist and the dentist.
The exam will include:

-
Digital x-rays: if necessary, we will take x-rays to help to diagnose decay between the teeth, bone loss around the teeth and can detect pathology and development problems.
-
Oral Cancer Screening: We will examine our extra-oral tissues (lips, neck, face) and intra-oral tissues (tongue, floor or mouth, palate...) for any signs of oral cancer. The VELscope is a special tool we use to visualize tissue abnormalities including oral cancer. Early detection and treatment of oral cancer significantly increase the chance of a positive outcome.
-
Gum exam- the gums and bone that surround your teeth will be examined for signs of gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) and periodontal disease (bone loss around your existing teeth).
-
Examination of existing restorations

Our registered dental hygienists will clean your teeth to remove all the plaque and bacterial deposits from both above and below the gum line. It may also include a polishing for those who need it. The hygienist will teach the patient how to properly care for their teeth, by providing additional cleaning aids, reviewing brushing techniques and help you keep healthy teeth and gums.
We focus on preventative dentistry, to help you maintain a high standard of oral health, while limiting dental expenditures.
