Dental Implants
Dental implants are the best way to replace a missing tooth. Dental implants feel like natural teeth and can give your mouth that full, complete feeling.
They can look extremely natural, and mimic the look of the surrounding, natural teeth in your mouth.
In order to ensure you are a good candidate for implants, Dr A Kohl or Dr R Kohl will review your medical history, oral health and current x-rays.
An ideal candidate will have good general dental and overall health as well as healthy gum tissue and bone to support the implant. Then they will send you for a special 3D x-ray called CBCT to diagnose the level and quality of bone of the mouth. It also maps out where vital structures in your mouth are located, such as the sinuses and nerves, which allows us to ensure that we have enough space to place an implant without encroaching on these vital structures.
Once it is determined that you are a good candidate for dental implants, and you consent to the treatment, a dental implant is placed into the bone and a 3-6 months waiting time is allowed for the implant to integrate into your bone. During this time, a temporary crown or denture can be made to replace your missing tooth. Once it is confirmed that there is good integration of the implant into your bone, a crown will be fabricated to fit onto your implant. The result is a strong, naturally looking false tooth that can last a lifetime.
